College Safari Provides a Personalized and Empowering Journey
We will discuss all facets of the admission process together. Melinda’s college advising fits into your student’s busy life with our extensive use of technology and includes: Video conferencing, telephone calls, unlimited email/text exchanges, access to our 24/7 online college planning and organizational platform, social media, and up-to-date news about the college application process.
Freshmen & Sophomores
By the middle of junior year, armed with the knowledge developed previously, students begin to think in terms of specifics. Melinda will be your student’s biggest cheerleader and develop a list of colleges that are best fits for their needs, interests, and abilities. Their list will be balanced, with a range of colleges that offering many exciting choices. Students will plan some college visits, receive interview tips, develop timelines and test preparation recommendations for standardized testing (ACT, SAT, and SAT Subject Tests), and discuss how different application types are relevant to their needs (early action, early decision, regular, or rolling admissions). We will also discuss the financial aid process as it relates to your individual family circumstances.
The summer prior to senior year is application time. With your personalized list of colleges, we will navigate through each application, and every essay and supplement. Students will use our platform to get and stay organized, while Melinda provides essay brainstorming, feedback during revisions, and a final review of all application materials.
Has your student just begun to think about college choices and applications prior to or at the start of their senior year? If so, please contact me about the possibility of completing a “Save Our Student” intensive summer/fall program.
Once students receive their acceptance letters, we will celebrate together! Melinda will be available to help your student make their final decision by analyzing each option in terms of academic, social, and financial fit. We conclude by considering the highlights of the transition from high school to college.
